By now most of you probably know about Instagr.am -- a photo-sharing app you can use on your iPhone. I just started using it a couple months ago and I wish I used it more. Life goes by SO FAST and I love when I think to take a quick photo to help me remember a slice of it. We really are so blessed to have a camera in our pockets at all times in the form of a cell phone. And to have the ability to instantly share a visual of a slice of our life with friends on the internet through Twitter and Facebook. I love that part of it. But I also just love looking back through my intsagr.am images. They form a personal photo journal of sorts.

The above images are a slice of my life from recent days.

On the left is me and my grandpa on his 80th birthday. I felt so blessed to be in Florida and to get to spend it with him. He said, "I never thought I'd live to be 80 years old." Aging is a funny thing, isn't it? None of us think we'll get there. But time marches on. I, for one, am thankful his expectation wasn't met. And I hope I'm as lovable at 80 as he is.

In the middle is an instagr.am shot by my office manager Sara. I was out of the office this week at a meeting and when I got back, she shared it with me. She said she turned around in her desk chair and it looked like the sofa had swallowed Dixie. Her little head was the only thing poking up from a sea of cushions. I'm so thankful Sara took a second to take this photo. I'm in love with it.

The photo on the right was one of my favorite moments yesterday. Jared Platt is a colleague and local photographer who has become a dear friend over the years. I took him to lunch yesterday for his birthday that happened 2 months ago. With all of our travels this summer, it was the first chance we'd had to meet up. It was a lunch in honor of his birthday. But I got the gift. Jared brought me a signed print of the photo he took of me with President George W. Bush. Super-cool. What a great memory.

Jared is a wise man. I've heard him say, "The best camera is the one you have with you." It's not always about having the best gear. At times an iPhone is the best camera because it's available at the decisive moment.

Thankful today to be on the train called life. No matter what I do, I can't slow it down. But I can do my best to capture slices along the way.
