I hope you all had a great Easter weekend! Mine was perfect. I went to church with my family, was overwhelmed with thankfulness for the amazing sacrifice Jesus made, went shopping with my mom, and crocheted.

Ever since my mom helped me learn to cross-stitch a little candle pattern when I was 7, I've loved making soft pretty things with my hands. Crafts are an amazing thing really, because they allow you to simultaneously be productive AND relax. Those are two beautiful things. I used to crochet, knit and quilt as well. My friends in college called me a grandma as I sat crocheting a thick red blanket.

All of this crafting was pre-photo-business. When my photography took over my life, other creative projects went by the wayside. But recently I've gotten bit by the bug again. I think it started when I read The Friday Night Knitting Club - which caused me to add goal #77- Knit something to my list. The thing that pushed me over the edge though, was seeing a few items that caught my eye on Pinterest. I loved them AND they had links to free patterns.

So last week I spent a few divine hours in a local yarn shop and picked out some pretty colors for my projects. This charcoal yarn turned into this fun ruffled scarf within two days:
That's right. I crocheted a wool scarf in April. But now I'm fully prepared for Fall :). For those of you interested in the pattern, you can find my inspiration piece and a link to the pattern on my Pinterest page. I haven't been able to closet my pretty creation yet, so right now it resides in my living room here:
The scarf was a good warm-up but this is my next inspiration:
I WILL be curling up with that blanket and a good book by my fire come next winter.

These are some of the fun colors I picked to work with (a few more are on order):
And this is what I did this weekend:
I think I have to make around 150 of these little circles when all is said and done. So with 15 down, I'm 10% there! That's right - nerd alert - I crochet AND I'm good at math.

Call me a grandma and a nerd all you want though, this grandma nerd will be fashionable and cozy!
