This is the delightful crew who attended the MJ 2 Day this week. There was one each from Wisconsin, New Jersey and Texas and the rest came from Arizona. From left to right starting at the top they are Sara Nevels, Matt Curry, Rachel Janssen, Vicki Tamburrelli, Stephanie Dietel, Emily Snitzer, Kim Estes, Lisa Mathewson, Jill Smith and Meridith Desmond.

It was a great group and we packed the two days full to the brink. On day two we covered business topics like the state of the market, workflow, album design & sales, vendor relations & networking, blogging & social media, initial client meetings, pricing, websites and branding. Phew! In essence, I poured the full contents of my brain on them. In the midst of all this learning, connections were made and relationships were formed. I think that's one of the best things about going to workshops! You come away with a whole new set of friends who share your passion!

Even though it was pretty full, Dixie still found a spot on the sofa:
Vicki and Kim signed up for the workshop together as friends, although they both own their own businesses. Here they are on a break between sessions:
My assistant was AMAZINGLY helpful! Sara took care of the food and really freed me up to interact with the attendees. Sara also just came on as my full-time office assistant. I'm so glad to have her!
In the midst of her many responsibilities, Sara was able to take a few quick shots documenting the workshop:

Explaining off-camera flash at receptions:
And a few shots from our mock shoot:
It's hilarious stepping back and watching 12 photographers all trying to shoot the same models!
But we had a good time.
And one final group shot of the whole crew:
And that's another successful MJ 2 Day!

My next workshop will take place sometime this summer out of state. We're currently looking for photographers who are interested in hosting one in their area. If you live near a major airport in New England, Chicago, the Midwest, Colorado or California and are interested in hosting a future MJ 2 Day, please email us at melissa{at}melissajill{dot}com with the subject line "hosting MJ2Day." And stay tuned! We'll be announcing the next workshop soon!
