Ashley - I tried emailing you back to say Thank you for your speedy response, but it didn't look like it went through. So here I am (way late, sorry!) to say Thank you:)
Melissa Jill - Hi Ashley -- I updated that link so it should work now. As far as meeting at a cafe, I would just bring my laptop and have a slideshow without music running in the background during our meeting. It's pretty tough to get up and leave and allow them to watch it, but at least this will give them a visual of your work. Hope this helps!
Ashley - Hi Melissa! I love reading all your posts and have been following you for years. Two questions for you, 1. I remember reading this blog post, with the linked post when it was first published and loving it. I came to re-read it this morning and noticed the link no longer takese you to that awesome review. Do you by chance have it anywhere or a meeting with potential clients from your perspective? Also, if you ever have to meet with people outside of your home and can't do the big slideshow while you leave the room and fresh baked cookies (if I'm remembering correctly, it was a long time ago I read this, but some things stuck with me;) ) what do you do then to tweak your presentation? I'm meeting with people who are pretty far away and asked if instead of coming out to my house we could meet at a cafe that's a little closer to them:/ thanks for all your help, tutorials, etc:)
Holly - Great tip (on the link to the planners post) about leaving the room while they watch the slideshow. Thx as always! :)
Melissa Jill :) - Hey Liz - If the meeting is during the day Sara usually either takes a break or takes the laptop into my family room and works from there.
Tammie - I love it! I jumped over to the other website to read the review - OMG, that's the same box I give my potential clients too :) Two magazines? Check! Paperwork on the collections I offer? Check! Ahhh...great minds think alike! LOL!! :)
Brooke - I read the post from Facebook, and am SO impressed myself! As a bride and photographer, I can't even tell you what some of the meetings have been like. It's been like a huge lesson in what NOT to do! Great ideas Melissa, you continue to amaze me. :)
Liz - I forgot to ask - where is Sarah during this time? Does she take a lunch break? :)
Liz - I read this yesterday from the link you share on FB and I think it is incredible!! You are professional, disciplined, and eager to truly help the people around you. Such an inspiration!!
Catherine - Hi Melissa I always enjoy your posts and I have to say it's good to know that the photographers are also nervous about meeting clients. We have an engagement shoot with our photographer (we live in South Africa - that's the only reason we're not using you!) next weekend, and both Francois and I are quite nervous about the whole affair. We had the same feeling when we first contacted the photographer and for the first client meeting, so as long as you create an atmosphere of confidence while keeping us relaxed and making us feel welcome, everything should be fine!
