Lydia - Challenged, that's how I feel when I read or hear about faithful Christian. Especially when they face difficult circumstance. And humbled, so humbled that I live in such a beautiful place, that is relatively free, and have the audacity to complain or not follow Jesus with all my might every single moment of the day!
Deborah Zoe - Hey Melissa:) I just finished Evidence Not Seen. If you love these kinds of books, you'd LOVE this book. So so powerful:)
Evie Perez - It has been a long time since i read this book!! This is a powerful book with a powerful story. I got so much out of this book when i read it. It reminded me of God's faithfulness and love. Maybe I should pick this book back up and read it again. Glad you found this book or should I say it found you :) Have a great week!!
Heather Corporan - Thanks for the post Melissa! This book (and many others) has been sitting on my book shelf for over a year, and I have yet to be able to 'get to it'. I'm great at buying great books, but not so good READING them lol. This I added to my recently made 101 list!!! I needed the extra encouragement though : )
Allison - Yes, this is a great book! I should go back and read it again - thanks for the inspiration =)
Liz - Thanks for sharing your greatest passion with us... to live a life after God's own heart. It's refreshing and encouraging to see someone that is so successful in her own business put Christ first. As you continue to shine CHRIST'S LIGHT for all to see, you will be blessed beyond what you can even imagine! May God Bless you, MJ!!!
Sarah - Loved that book. Such a huge challenge to our faith. And yay for another 101 item crossed off.
Melli - With your interest in faithful Christians you might find Shusaku Endo's books "the Samurai" and "Silence" interesting reads. I am no Christian and remember being fully drawn into the stories (which take place in medieval Japan) by them. I remember them as really good and easily accessible stories (I was around 18 when I read them).
And yay for checking off another goal on your list!
April - Can't blame you for wanting to read anything Clay or Rhonda recommends! :) Love them! (and since they recommended you, I've followed you ever since! :)
Since you enjoyed The Heavenly Man, I think you'd truly like "Safely Home" by Randy Alcorn. It's a fiction book based on a true story. Really incredible insight into Chinese house churches and so inspiring. Hope you'll check it out!
Thanks for plugging the Heavenly Man...one of my favorites!
Heather - You listed some GREAT books! I have not read The Heavenly Man yet but definitely just added it to my list. Some of my favorite Christian missionary biographies that I think you would definitely love are "Bruchko" by Bruce Olsen (its SOOOO AWESOME!!!) and "The Peace Child" and "Eternity in Their Hearts" by Don Richardson.
Taylor - Thanks for sharing, Melissa. I read that book a couple years ago and it's really stuck with me much more than others. Very encouraging, and convicting. I would highly recommend it to others as well.
