Heather Corporan - My hubby and I are both SOOO in this same place right now. Thank you for sharing. I . . WE, really needed to hear this. It gave me peace just remembering that HE is where our peace should be coming from. We'll never be in control, lol. So it's fultile to try I suppose, He will always be in control. And THAT is enough to give me peace :D
Mikaela - Amen! Thank you for sharing this... and finding one of my 'inner weaknesses' and writing specifically to me ;)
Sandra - After my recent experiences I can honestly say that I try to focus on the moment, on being present in the here and now. I do what I can and don't treat myself too harshly over what I can not accomplish. It's like the line from the song "American Honey" that says "get caught in the reeds of this crazy life. Trying to be everything can make you lose your mind." I don't try to be everything to everyone anymore. I accept my limitations and am far more grateful for my abilities. I love the vulnerability of this post.
Photography Leeds - I love your work...so inspiring!
Clare Lockwood - Photography Leeds - I love your blog. Thanks for sharing x
Katelyn - This is totally what I needed to hear today! Thanks for posting it!
Evie Perez - Wow - I am so guilty for this. Today I was trying to relax with my husband and all I keep on thinking about was the things I need to do. If only I could get my brain to work like his. He is so clam and if he does not finish something he is ok with it and just tells me if will wait for tomorrow. I am like, yeah right, it need to get done now! I am reminding myself to be still and know that God is God. Like Joyce Meyer says, I know I am not where I need to be, but thank God I am not were I used to be :)
Cynthia Rust - I am so with you on this!! God is dealing with the same thing as far as my busyness. I gave up a part time job last week so I have one less thing on my list. Thanks for sharing!! I am going to try your friends suggestion (in the comments) about the +30 schedule for reading through the Psalms. If anything is on my list, it should be reading His word!!
Gail - LOVE this post MJ! I feel like I could learn about a lot of great Christian writers from you...I always need help sifting through to the ones who are real and true and these two definitely sound it! As for peace, one day last week, I just took my dog down to the park and laid on a park bench and watched the clouds for 10 minutes. I went into it thinking, "This is stupid, I don't have time for this." But when I was walking back, I had such a feeling of contentment...that childhood kind of contentment I think we chase all of our adult lives.
Mary Marantz - Aghhhhh! I SO needed to hear this right now! Thank you so much for sharing it. Love you! M:)
Mark - Amen, everytime I think I'm getting caught up on my things to do or even $$, something comes up to bring me back down to even/ loaded with even more to do. Thank God I 'at least ' i have that list.
Jennifer Hudson - You are so inspiring. I hope to get to meet you some day at one of your workshops. I admire your love for the Lord, and your photography. Be blessed!
Jeanne Birmingham - Me too and.......Amen sista! I can think of a couple of things I focus on - I have this big glass vase in my kitchen that's filled with sea shells and sand (reminds me of the ocean and keeps me calm). Also, I love to listen to Enya...her voice is so beautiful. Oh one more..... my two sleepy pugs in my lap, they are just SO sweet and lovable.
Susie - WOW! I can't believe this post because I have been dealing with this same thing. For the past week or so, God has led me to an area of prayer/meditation which I believe fits right in with what you wrote. Psalm 46:10 says "Be still and KNOW that I am God." I have been spending a few minutes everyday meditating on this verse and what it truly means. I will sit in my recliner, prop my legs, close my eyes and while taking deep breaths, repeat this verse over and over to myself, really concentrating on what it means to "Be still. Know God." It has helped me tremendously! I know that God wants me to slow down and spend some time with Him each day.
Lynn Cobb - Wow! I needed to read that.... and I just passed it on to 20 of my dearest girlfriends too :) Thanks for sharing!
Erin McFarland - I feel like you and I are drawn to virtually all the same books! I got Jesus Calling for Christmas last year and LOVE it! And Elisabeth Elliot... you summed it up just right- it seems like she mentors you through her books. Great post!
Tina - I am TOTALLY guilty of this too! I always dream of the day when everything is checked off my "list" - I need to accept that just won't happen, and live in the now:)
Whitney - Amen! I read through the psalms daily on a +30 schedule...so for May 10, you could read Psalm 10 (+30), Psalm 40, 70, 110, 140. And I read these Elisabeth Elliott quotes (she's an incredible woman - http://dailychristianquote.com/dcqelliot.html) Thanks for posting! So encouraging!
