Julie D. - wow. i would have to agree with the above commenters...i kind of hope she comes here and sees these comments. who says that stuff? bridezilla for sure. If you are reading this...Sorry girl, you missed out on the best.
A - WOW. She will definitely become a bridezilla. You dodged a bullet there - the lord works in mysterious ways. I would have thanked you for not giving me your germs. Just imagine if you had gone through with the meeting - you'd have gotten the follow up email: "Melissa, don't bother worrying about my photo job because the sheer fact that you allowed invisible microscopic germs to invade your immune system and show up sneezing and wheezing tells me that you are human and vulnerable to pathogens. I am only interested in hiring non-human emotionless alien cyborg photographers for my event. I leave you to your mortal issues muwahahahaha.....!"
Team MJ circles the wagons - back off alien cyborgs.
YGuerrero - I really hope you get better soon! :) :)
MattDJ - Ugh! I hate being sick. Sorry to hear you're under the weather MJ. Hey, sounds like it was a blessing in disguise with that client going somewhere else. :-)
Shannon - Some people! UGH! Well you are certainly better off without her as a client! I sure hope you feel better soon! I would give you some remedies but my best one is to just call my mommy and tell her to make it better :)
Yadira Richards - She should have said "Thank you Melissa for being very considerate and not coming to the shoot sick and jeapordising our health" Hope you start to feel better!
Michele S - Wow! You defiantly don't need that client. Her loss for sure! You would think she would be happy that you weren't meeting with her, since colds can be pretty contagious. Hope you get better quickly! I feel you though...I've been sick myself twice in 5 weeks.
erin - Oh man, I feel your pain. Every winter I get at least one horrible sinus thing that takes me down for a few weeks. I heart all of the sinus products that neil med makes, netti pot included. It drives me crazy how some clients think we aren't human. Their loss cuz you are amazing!
Carolyn Egerszegi - Sorry... one more thing - cooked garlic does not have the same anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties as raw garlic, so you must consume raw garlic for it to work - which is why I suggest garlic pills. As if having a cold isn't bad enough to keep people away... the stink of raw garlic would really leave you friendless!! lol. Feel better soon...
Carolyn Egerszegi - Hi Melissa. Sorry to hear you are sick and hope you feel better soon. As I mentioned on Facebook, I highly recommend taking medical strength garlic pills as soon as you feel a cold coming on. Last winter I had chronic sinus infections, only made worse by the fact that my daughter brings home a new cold from preschool every other week, but this year, since I've been taking garlic pills I haven't caught a single one. Thank goodness too, because like you, I can't afford to take a day off. And as for that silly bride - her loss - she will certainly have a tough time finding a more talented or dedicated photographer than you!
Tina - I am a mom and have never seen that little blue genie bottle! Please tell me what that is and does it work?? I hope you are feeling better!
Mary Serantoni - Fret Not. Client's Loss. Feel Better. (COLD-EASE lozenges the remedy of Opera singers everywhere!)... Best Wishes 2U :)
Giovanna Matarazzo-Mandel - Melissa...I have just found Mucinex in the past few weeks and it has worked wonders. It's the type of stuff that you take for a few weeks in a row...I usually have ongoing sinus issues and this stuff is the bomb!
Amy - To prevent a cold I use Airborne when I've been around a lot of people, before a flight or anytime I feel a little run down or around people that are sick. Once I feel a cold starting to come on I use Zicam(the rapid melts one). I use this the second I start feeling sick and it has sometimes stopped my cold or reduced the severity of it. I'm also a BIG believer in using purell out in public to prevent sickness. The best way to prevent sickness overall: plenty of sleep, exercise & eating right.
Matt Bowker - Mine isn't a remedy so much as it is a preventative maintenance thing. I suggest a small amount of wine right before bed every night. It keeps my sinuses clear and I haven't had any problems with allergies since I've started. It doesn't have to be anything fancy... a cheap white (even a boxed table wine) will do, just find something you like.
Ben Finch - The power is in the popsicle!!! Always good for a smile if nothing else. I'd send you some of my favs but I'm afraid they would certainly perish in route. Hope you feel better friend! Hopefully some good music & a good book will help!
Tira J - Silly, completely insane, you will be sorry client! Melissa Jill is the bomb! Anyways, my trick is to drink a TON of water! Seriously, you want to flood your system with water. I am talking 3 big Nalgene bottles of water a day like 96 oz.! Oh, and some vitamin C. Wow. Hope you feel better, and don't let that individual get you down. Hugs.
Denise - Waaaa? Silly silly client. They don't know what their missing. Hope you feel better soon!
Johanna - Oh my goodness. You photographed my daughter's wedding. We were so pleased with the photographs you took. I won't say your potential clients will be sorry for choosing another photograhper, but they sure won't have the artistry and quality you produce. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
laura - If there is anyone who is enthusiastic and reliable - it is MJ. Hope you feel better soon. Good, old fashioned gargling with warm, salt water at least twice a day keeps secondary infections (chest and sinus) from happening. I use it even for allergies.
holly howe - is that a 'netipot'??! i hear they work wonders! feel better! :)
Cami - Wow... it probably works out for the best that you don't have to work with bridezilla anymore! Feel better, Melissa!
MIke C - My regimen that serves me well during flu and cold season: 5000mg of vitamin C (10,000mg if I develop symptoms), Vitamin D3 drops, peroxide flushes of my ears (tilt your head to one side, put some peroxide in, wait until it stop bubbling, then do the other side), sudafed and affrin for nasal decongestion as necessary, and red wine... to relax!
Georgia - Oh and by the way... I wouldn't want to work for a client who apparently doesn't get sick themselves... BLAH to them!
Georgia - My friend told me of this "remedy' using Eucalyptus oil... Maybe it's all crazy but it really was the first time I was able to breathe or smell in almost a month!!
Take eucalyptus oil- put it in a kleenex/toilet paper and slap it on your forehead... It cleared me up.. Let me know if the netti pot worked for you.. I think it gave me an infection. :( http://jacobandgeorgia.blogspot.com/2009/10/clearin-up.html
Lisa - May I just say, on behalf of all normal people in this world, that that potential client is a whack job? Or is it whackjob?
She would have been a pain to work with, so good riddance.
Feel better. I've got nothing to offer, remedy-wise. Whenever I get sick, I always end up with an ear infection. No fun.
