Gail - Such a moving post Melissa. I need to remember these updates of yours and come back to them when I'm being grumpy about my life because WHOA there is NO reason for me to be. We are SO lucky here in America. Thanks for reminding us of that.
R. J. Kern - Yet another great reminder for me not to take for granted the importance of clean drinking water. I remember learning in an environmental issues course in college the #1 killer of humans in the world isn't cause by guns, HIV, or shark attacks, but diarrheal disease caused by poor drinking water. Sobering.
maria Nissen - Oops. I meant the notch in the framing. :-)
maria Nissen - Wow, Melissa! I really love the top photo. I love the way the boy is framed by whatever is going on in the foreground and the little cut out notch in the wall. Of course the look on his face is the icing on the cake. You are the perfect person to make this trip, because you document it so well, so the rest of us can enjoy it, too.
Susan Eckert - Wow. Thanks for sharing this! I would love to make a trip like this. But with 2 year old twins, it's gonna have to wait a bit! I thought your image of the first house was somewhat depressing, yet beautifully framed with the amazing blue of the sky. But then I saw the second....I see what you mean. I'll be bookmarking your blog and plan to visit again. : ) Great work!
Mary Schwarz - Really incredible work...and a reminder to be thankful for simple things like running water. I'm curious, are most of the houses spread out, or could neighbors easily share one filter?
