tiffany feger - good ideas!
Maria - So Helpful! Photogs can really learn from this! Great ideas!
Cameron Clark | C+K Studio - I do even shorter deadlines. 7-10 days for portraits (make sure to try to include 2 weekends) and 14-21 days for weddings (after the honeymoon). I give a huge discount if you order in the first 3 days of the gallery life, usually a Friday-Sat-Sun. This is a great motivator because people like to save 15-20% when they can. My online gallery automatically sends out these emails. It rocks. I reload everything 6-8 weeks before Christmas at no charge ( I charge to reload a gallery, or threaten to but never really have to) for a limited time as well and get lots of additional orders. Again, running the major discount in the first three days.
michelle - Wait a second... I know these people!!! You make them look so much better on film ;). Nice job!
Rick Johnson - Great action shots, Melissa!
Alissa Ferullo - You are so generous with your behind-the-scenes info! =) Great ideas - thanks!
michele s - Here's another suggestion to think about. Another photog once told me to include a discount when you send out the link to the proofs. Make the discount only available for a short period of time (1 week, etc...) This will make them 1. buy quickly and 2. buy more to get the discount. Just an idea. I haven't tried it yet.
Miki DeVivo - Thanks for the great advice. I've been mulling over this question as well. One thing I was thinking of was to invite clients to my home studio where I have larger prints displayed. This way they can see really just how small an 8x10 is. Hopefully this helps. I'll keep you posted =). Thanks for this FAQ feature. It's really great.
Cindy - I absolutely LOVE your FAQ posts on Fridays. Thank you so much for doing them.
denise karis - this was a great question to take! Thank you so much!
Casey Figlewicz - Hey great post. I asked you this same question in our Skype mentoring a few weeks age. Great info! Thanks. Hey we for sure need to Skype next month. Take care.
Li W. - SO helpful. I'm just starting out a pet photog biz and since it's not the huge industry that is wedding or portraits, there is no hard standard - even though it is still custom photography. There is certainly still a lot of work that goes behind it. This is really great. Thanks for sharing.
