Mary - Glad I'm not the only one who tells my pup that she's required to stay with me forever. :) Have you tried distilled water? I changed Brooklyn's water to bottled and it helped and then gradually started adding apple cider vinegar(the natural unfiltered kind with the super healthy mother) and stains are all gone.

Katie Cassidy - You may also want to check your water source for the level of mineral content for what is staining Dixie's beard. We were told by our vet that some it was age but mostly due to iron and other minerals in the water that were staining our schnauzer's beard.
