So it's monsoon season in Arizona. For those of you not familiar with Arizona weather "monsoon" is desert language for storms. We have a ton of them in late July and August. There's your standard rain, thunder and lightening and then sometimes there's dust storms where the wind kicks up all the desert dust and dumps it on our cars and in our pools. Arizonans don't know what to do when it rains. We're not used to it. So we drive slow and get in lots of accidents.

Today I was working and heard the wind and rain kick up outside. It was so windy and rainy that water was coming in under my front door and a tree was blown down on a fence in my front yard. I got in the car to drive to shoot Megan's engagement photos and had to dodge some branches that were down in the middle of the street. And Megan ended up being super-late because she was stuck behind a huge accident where someone ran into a light pole that fell across the highway. Such excitement!

So by the time Megan arrived at her home an hour and a half late, we were out of light. But luckily I brought my handy lighting equipment so we carried on.

Megan and Ari got married last November and I got to shoot their engagement photos. They're super sweet and I'm so excited that they're having a baby boy in September!! His name is Brody and they are all set to welcome him into their world.

I think Megan looks so beautiful in the top shot. She's one of those girls that just looks super-cute pregnant.

I liked their front door--it was opaque so I stuck my soft box outside to flash the light through it and this is the effect it had:
Love it!

One more shot with Ari's hands in the photo:
If we get a chance we'll have to finish the shoot with some natural lighting to get some more variety for them but it was fun to do what we could with what we had to work with after the monsoon tried to stop us altogether :).
