Today I got the chance to meet Crystal Goss, a talented photographer I admire who lives in Arkansas. She flew in to shoot a wedding tomorrow in Sedona and contacted me and Kim to see if we wanted to go to lunch. We went to this cute little cafe in downtown Mesa that has the best jinormis cookies. :)
Crystal is a super-sweet southern bell and I really enjoyed getting to know her a little bit. Awhile back I came across her blog and read a post about a wedding she shot where the bride broke her leg 2 weeks before the wedding day. It was such a touching story that I linked to it back then. Turns out the wedding was recently featured in People Magazine! So cool!!
We talked a bit about the photography community out in Arkansas and Crystal said that most of the photographers she's met still view one another mainly as competition. It kinda made me sad for Crystal. Hopefully Arkansas will catch up with the times and realize how beneficial forming community with other photographers can be. Hang in there Crystal!
