Yesterday I attended Bambi Cantrell & Jerry Ghionis' Seminar here in Phoenix. It was fun to see many of you! The seminar was jam-packed with info and demonstrations. They talked about everything from marketing to talking with clients on the phone, consultations, album design, lighting techniques and posing.
Here's a couple shots of Jerry and Bambi in action:

These two are both extremely successful at what they do and I love the passion they convey when talking about their businesses. They both are much more portrait-oriented than I tend to be when approaching weddings but it's great to hear about how other people with different styles work with clients and to see how well it works for them. Definitely a worthwhile seminar!
It was fun to see so many of my photographer friends there as well and network a little. I'm a big networker and since I have been leading the Phoenix PUG for the last year and a half, I have met so many photographers in the valley that it seems like I should know them all! But there were so many unfamiliar faces at the conference. It's amazing how many photographers there are just in Phoenix!! At lunch I sat at a table with 5 of my friends and afterwards I had another photographer who was attending the conference come up to me and ask if all of them were my friends. I was a little confused and made sure she meant the people I was sitting with at lunch. She was and I said yes. She asked if they were all photographers and I said yes. She seemed really surprised and said, "That is so great!" She seemed amazed that photographers in a competing field could also be good friends. It was weird for me but reminded me that a lot of people in the business are just out there on their own, keeping a safe distance from other photographers that they view solely as "competition." It makes me so grateful for the work I've put into building the relationships I have that have enhanced my life and my business so much. Thanks to all of you for your friendships!
