Yesterday I spent some quality time with the masses at everyone's favorite place: the DMV. I received a letter in September saying that I needed to update my photo. You see, in Arizona our driver's licenses don't expire until we're 65. Crazy, I know. I guess they figure that's when we'll need to have our eyes reevaluated or something. The photo on my license was taken when I was 21. I've had it re-issued since then when I moved into my new house, but I got to do that online so I have the same photo. It's unfortunate that they make you update your photo every 12 years because how cool would it be if I could whip this baby out when I'm 65?
That's me at 21. Bad hair, I know. It's a no-go for bangs with me. I've since learned.
The letter I received said I had until November 1st to go in and update my photo. So going to the DMV has been on my to-do list for months. The problem was that I wanted to look nice for my photo. I mean, I have to live with it for the next 12 years. But every time I looked nice, I had somewhere I needed to be. So going to the DMV remained perpetually and glaringly on my to-do list. And since I didn't abide by the law, I became a criminal on November 1st driving around without my photo updated.
Yesterday I got my hair cut and colored in the morning and had the afternoon open so I took advantage of the opportunity to finally check the DMV off my list.
Here's my new license:

Feels good to get that done. It's probably just the lighting and the fact that I know how to do my hair now, but I like to think I actually look better at 33 than I did at 21. That's the party line I'm towing anyhow.
K -- I'm going to get in my car and drive now. And when I drive by a policeman I'm going to hold my head high. Cause I'm not a criminal anymore.
