Every year for the past 5 years (maybe more -- I can't remember pre-blog days!) I've shot family portraits for one of my favorite families -- the Swansons. These guys are dear friends of mine -- we've been friends for over 15 years. Back in the day I went on a double date with Scott and Julie before they were married. Now Scott is the pastor of my church and my favorite officiant that I recommend to everyone who is getting married. If you'd like to see how their family has evolved over the years, as well as how my photography has changed, you can click on these links to see their past shoots: 2006, 2007, 2008.
In January Scott and Julie became parents to a foster child, Danny. Danny is 6 years old and a bundle of energy. He is currently up for adoption so we don't know how much longer he'll be with the Swansons but we wanted to include him in part of the shoot. Danny came up with a few poses of his own. I was partial to this one:

Here's the whole stinkin' cute family:
Colton is 4, Sammy is 6 and Hayden is 9:
Getting four boys between the ages of 4 and 9 to smile on cue is a challenge. I love the plethora of different smiles we came up with in this one:
Part way through the shoot, Danny's behavioral coach picked him up and we got a few shots of the biological family together:
As the sun sets the Swansons' super-hero alter-egos come out so we got one shot of them too:
Love you guys!
