You didn't know I had go-go-gadget arms did you? I've tried to keep it a secret up until now but I guess posting this photo gives me away. Yesterday I wrapped up the first MJ 2 Day in which many more secrets were shared. Really, I don't keep any secrets regarding my business and I love sharing with other photographers. I told the group of workshop attendees that by the time I finished the workshop, they would officially know everything that's in my brain. Ya, just two days worth--that's all I got in there :).
It really was such a great experience. Tomorrow I'll share more about the amazing group, but for now, you get some fun detail shots and some photos from our mock engagement shoot.
On Sunday night, everyone came by for a couple of hours for a meet and greet--a time to get to know each other so that Monday morning we could hit the ground running. Much thanks is owed to my friend, roommate and workshop attendee, Jessica, who helped me out with the food portion of the workshop. She did a fabulous job and freed me up to focus on teaching and interacting with the attendees. I grabbed a few detail shots before everyone arrived:

On Monday, I shared on photography topics such as shooting techniques, lighting and post-processing. Then we headed out to Old Town Gilbert for a mock engagement shoot. Meghan and Jeff have been married for one year and they were SUCH troopers to be our models. I found them through a recommendation from my fellow photographer friends Chris & Tammie Billey of Largo Photography who shot their wedding last year. I met Meghan and Jeff for the first time at the mock shoot so those who attended the workshop really got a sense of how I interact with my clients in an engagement shoot scenario. Meghan & Jeff however, didn't get the same true-to-life experience. They had me leading the shoot and 13 other photographers clicking away in the background. It was pretty hilarious to be shooting and hear all the shutters clicking behind me. But Meghan and Jeff were totally cool under pressure.
After talking about backlighting earlier in the day we were able to go out and find some great spots to demonstrate my favorite of all lighting situations:
Love this:
We also had some fun playing with sun flare:
More yummy backlighting:
And more flare:
Found a great location with leading lines:
And one final shot of cuteness:
It was a great first day! Stay tuned for part 2 coming soon!
