Feeling much better--thanks to all of you for your well-wishes. On a positive note, the flu did help me in my quest to check #6 off of my 101 in 1001 list--I lost 2 pounds over the weekend. Probably not the healthiest weight-loss plan, but...what can you do? (And no, this isn't what made my day--read on for that.)

In other news, here's a fun story for you. A couple weekends ago I went with my friends Cristi and Curtis to a fashion show at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale. We got all gussied up and went out on the town. I don't do this often and I was reminded of why. It was a little wild for my taste. Call me old, but I can only handle that scene like three times a year. The valet was full so we walked three blocks in heels, when we got inside (meaning in the pool area where the runway was set up over the pool) there were people on top of people, a 45-minute wait for the bathroom, and you had to shout to talk to the person next to you. You know the orderly, ritzy fashion shows you see on Project Runway where everyone has a place to sit? Nothing like that. I was exhausted by the end of the night and couldn't make it back to the car because of the huge blisters forming on my feet.

What a complainer, huh? :) On the positive side, it was fun to get dressed up and people watch. And Cristi and Curtis are SUCH sweet friends. I'm so thankful for their persistence in inviting me out.

Well, what's the point, you ask? At the fashion show, Curtis took a quick shot of Cristi and I on her camera. I made her promise to send it to me. She did, but not as expected. Today, I received this card in the mail:
On the inside was printed, "Hi Melissa, Just wanted to say that I have really enjoyed getting to know you better and I'm looking forward to some more fun (or boring) times together. Cristi" How SWEET IS THAT!?

For the record, I don't think I ever used the word "boring" but I did communicate that it was a little crazy for my tastes :). All of you who know me are laughing knowingly right now because you have experienced how openly I share my feelings :).

Thanks so much for making my day Cristi! There's no one else I would rather be stuck at a boring fashion show with than you!
