Yesterday I went down to Tucson for the day to help out my good friend Jennifer Bowen with one of her weddings. It's been awhile since I've second shot and I think it's a great thing to do to stretch myself. When I shoot my own weddings, I feel obligated to my brides and grooms to capture certain things and the weight of the photography responsibility rests on me. But when I second shoot, I'm able to shed the running list in my head and I have more time to look around me for other opportunities. I actually found it tough to break free from my "first photographer" role that I've become accustomed to. I'm just so programmed a certain way. But I did enjoy the experience. Jen is a fabulous photographer and it was so fun to spend time with her and see her work her magic.
