One evening while Shane & Teri were in Phoenix to visit Shane’s parents, they had plans to go out to dinner. As the day turned into dusk, Shane started hurrying, rushing through getting dressed and walking the dog, insisting that they finish in time to watch the sunset.
It was a glorious sunset.
While they stood gazing at the the crimson and orange of the desert sky, Shane brought up a recent conversation. They’d been discussing marriage, and Shane had dodged all of Teri’s questions about whether he wanted to get married. That evening, holding Teri in his arms as she admired the sunset, he said, ”Remember how you claimed I never gave you a direct answer about marriage?" Teri definitely remembered. He held out a ring. "How's this for direct?" he asked with a grin, and asked Teri to marry him.
Teri accepted, and she’s been wearing the ring -- a gorgeous and unique heirloom, set with a large yellow sapphire -- ever since. Even though it was an old family piece that had never been sized for her, the ring fit perfectly. Talk about meant to be!
I was so touched to be there to photograph Shane & Teri’s wedding! It was especially meaningful for me, because I also photographed the weddings of Shane’s sisters, Jamie and Llana. Here are a few of my favorite photos from Shane & Teri's lovely desert wedding:
