Last month when I shared our intern search on the blog, I had no idea that we would find two AMAZING interns in time for the spring semester. Not to brag, but we KINDA hit the jackpot with these two! And I'm so excited to introduce you to them!
Kian (below right) is a junior at Arizona State University, majoring in Design Management with a certificate in Marketing. She was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago where this time of year means being buried in snow. Kendra (below left) is also a junior, but she attends Grand Canyon University where she's majoring in Business Management with a minor in Marketing. She's from San Diego, and she goes back every summer to escape the intense Phoenix heat.

I decided to do a hard-hitting, no-holds-barred interview with these two to give you a chance to get to know them. :)
I love that you are both incorporating marketing into your degrees! What is your dream job after college?
Kian: My dream job would probably be working for myself. I would love to start my own company with a young & modern aesthetic. I definitely envision myself doing something creative and having a flexible schedule to travel. A 9-to-5 job has never really been my thing.
Kendra: My dream job for the future is to be able to lead and manage people by traveling around the world. I love interacting with all sorts of different people and cultures, it's so fascinating. Being able to experience something new everyday in my career path is something I've always wanted. I want to meet the needs of others through either through event planning or in the hotel management industry.

How do you think interning with MJP will help you on the path to reaching your goals?
Kian: The fact that you turned your creative hobbies into a successful & thriving business is extremely inspirational. This is essentially what I want to do with my future, maybe not with photography, but most definitely something creative. I think learning about your journey growing your business will help me tremendously.
Kendra: This internship may help me towards my dream job by encouraging me to just dive into creativity and continually learn something new every day! I will be able to encounter so many different kinds of couples and their culture and being able to see how they want to plan their dream wedding, which is going to be a huge plus for me in the direction of event panning!
Ahh! Looks like we have some future girl bosses on our hands! I love that MJP gets to be a small part of your journey. … And now that we have the serious questions out of the way, we can get down to the REALLY important things. First critical question: What is your favorite comfort food?
Kian: Hands down Mac & Cheese and pizza -- or actual Mac & Cheese Pizza from CiCi’s! I can’t bear to elaborate, I’m so hungry thinking about it right now.
Kendra: My favorite comfort food is definitely bread! I try not to eat too much of it but, boy, do I enjoy some good sourdough bread! Yum!
Do you have any nicknames that people call you?
Kian: Haha! Funny you should ask … the number of nicknames I have may be record-breaking (should we call Guinness?)! My name is pronounced like cayenne pepper so that created a few nicknames in itself: Pepper, Pep, Salt. The rest don’t really have an explanation: Keen, Keener, Kiki, Ky-Ky, Keeks, Kdog, Strawberry Shortcake, “Kian pepper & friends” (yes someone actually calls me that, it’s abbreviated KPAF).
Kendra: Typically, the closest people to me call me Kendi or Ken. My dad started the trend Kendi as I was a little girl and people eventually caught on growing up, but I love these names even now being older!

Fill in the blank: If _________ was cancelled, I would scream into my pillow!
Kian: If Scandal was cancelled, I would scream into my pillow (or watch every season 4 times over like I did with Gossip Girl)!
Kendra: If Vampire Diaries was cancelled, I would scream into my pillow! The salvatore brothers are just too dreamy...
Last question! What are two interesting facts about you that people wouldn't guess when they first meet you?
Kian: I think one interesting fact would be the strange hobbies I pick up! Last year I had a pole installed in my living room and I taught myself pole fitness (which is actually great exercise and extremely painful). I was also a pole vaulter in high school, which tends to surprise a lot of people. What can I say? I love the adrenalin of flipping & being upside down!
Kendra: First, I absolutely love the beach; I pretty much live there in the summertime! I love swimming in deep blue or clear waters and getting a nice sun kissed tan of course! And second, I have a HUGE family.. 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and 50 first cousins. I know right? The majority of us are all very close too, I couldn't imagine my life without them!
See, hard-hitting journalism, right!? I'm not afraid to ask the tough questions -- haha! You'll be seeing more from these two here on the blog, and I can't wait to share the new ideas and fresh perspective they bring throughout the semester!
