Frivolous: playful, lighthearted, trivial; the little things in life that should be savored.
Highlight of the week: Lots of quality time with family -- barbecuing ribs on the grill, playing darts, taking long walks, and celebrating my cute mom.
Yes, I did this:
1 -- Did my civic duty and tried to be happy about it. Thankfully it was relatively painless and I was set free early afternoon. Yay!
2 -- Took a Saturday afternoon nap with the sweetest nap partner ever.
3 -- Finally gave in to pressure from my 14-year-old nephew and downloaded Candy Crush. Not sure if that was wise.
We had a quarterly meeting with my team from Align Album Design. I love this group and it was so fun to gather at my house and plot to take over the world (not really, but you know). We even brought in three remote designers via video chat and put them up on my 55" TV. Good times!
Celebrating: It was a double-header celebration this week in honor of my mom who is cursed with having her birthday on the heels of Mother's Day every year. It was a landmark birthday so we tried to make her feel extra-special and took her out to dinner at a ballgame. It was a gorgeous night out with the roof open! I'm so blessed with an incredible mother and I can't imagine how my life would be different without her impact and the mark she has left on it.
I had the most intriguing discussion over pad thai with some long-time photographer friends regarding the state of the industry and how much things are changing as of late. Man, this small business venture thing is tough! There are SO many changes happening technology-, social media-, and marketing-wise that it is such a challenge to keep up! My head is spinning and I'm still working on processing our discussion. But man, I definitely feel like I'm being forced to take a critical look at what is working and what isn't and make some strategic changes of late. Being a small business owner in this day and age definitely requires you to stay on your toes!
