I had so much fun this week with a great group of up and coming photographers! The MJ2Day in my home in Phoenix, AZ was a huge success! We packed as much as we possibly could into two days worth of learning goodness where I shared everything in my brain relating to photography and business.
Each of the 13 attendees received a goody-bag full of free stuff from our amazing sponsors worth over $300.
They also received a 50+ page workbook full of photography and business-related content:
Monday we covered topics ranging from shooting techniques, to lighting, interacting with clients, posing and off-camera flash. I have to laugh when I see this photo of Dixie -- she has become quite the seasoned workshop attendee herself! haha!
Then we went out into the good light the hour before sunset so I could demonstrate how I interact with clients, find light, and use compositional elements in the context of a mock engagement shoot. Our two models were Scott and Kari who have been married for two years. They are from Canada but are snow birds of sorts since Scott is a golf pro. Kari is a photographer who has followed my blog for some time and since has become a friend. I've loved getting to know Scott and Kari and was thrilled when they volunteered to model for us. These two were so cute together and total troopers in front of FOURTEEN cameras.

Here are some of my favorites:
I love this light we found!
Throughout the shoot I would occasionally turn to the attendees and explain what I was doing, share my camera settings, and answer any questions they had.
At the end of the shoot, Kari was sweet to take a photo of us:
Stay tuned -- Monday I'll share a recap of day 2 of the workshop, and more about the fun attendees!

Equipment used for mock shoot photos: Canon 5D Mark III // Canon 50mm 1.2 lens // Canon 70-200 2.8 lens
