This past weekend, I went on a girls' getaway to Charleston, South Carolina. It was so much fun to experience a new city -- one I had heard so many good things about! It definitely didn't disappoint.

Originally, three of my girlfriends and I were all planning to meet up there, but two of them ended up having to cancel due to personal circumstance, so it ended up just being my friend Rhonda and I. Even though I was SO bummed that the other two couldn't make it, we made the most of the opportunity and enjoyed every minute.

I found an apartment for rent on VRBO.com in the heart of downtown Charleston on the 2nd floor of an art gallery. It was crazy-amazing both location-wise and for its hospitality and charm. I only brought my 50mm 1.2 on the trip, so that wasn't ideal for shooting the space, but I wanted to give you a taste anyhow. Below left is the hall in the apartment leading down to the bathroom. There are two bedrooms on the left and at the end is the living room/kitchen.
It was incredibly charming and if I'm ever back in Charleston, I'm definitely going to try to stay there again.
We were fortunate enough to be there during Restaurant Week and alternated between eating out at the best restaurants in the city, walking around to admire the historic homes, and shopping.
The neighborhoods were so gorgeous and I'm convince that if I lived in one of these homes, the rest of my life would also be built of the stuff of fairy tales.
The brick stairs were even lined with perfectly manicured vines:
This is someone's side/back yard. And this is winter. I can't even imagine what it looks like in spring.
What a fun weekend! Here's an iPhone photo taken by a kind stranger of me and Rhonda on our last day:
And now I seriously need to detox. Time to cut back to only one dessert per day :).
