Frivolous: playful, lighthearted, trivial; the little things in life that should be savored.
Favorite Outfit of the Week: Cardigan: LOFT / Tank: Eddie Bauer / Platform flip-flops: Aldo / Necklace: unknown / Earrings: Nordstrom
Highlight of the week: There are WAY too many to choose from. This week I've been in the beautiful Colorado mountains attending Deep Camp with Kingdom Building Ministries -- a ministry that has HUGELY impacted my life. It has been SO encouraging, refreshing and challenging all wrapped into one. If you're my friend -- prepare to be talked into coming with me next summer!
Yes, I did this:
1 -- Forgot to pack my Bible. And ya, the camp is all about going deeper in your relationship with God. Smart, Melissa.
2 -- Slept on a bunk bed for the first time in years.
Another huge highlight of the week for me was meeting this cute girl in person and getting to know her better. She is participating in the same discipleship training experience that hugely impacted my life 14 years ago. A few months ago I was assigned to be her coach for the next year. She's an aspiring photographer and we have a ton in common. We spent some time at camp shooting together and I'm excited to see what God does in her life in the coming months and years!
Celebrating: Impacted & changed lives for Christ! It was incredible to witness many people give their lives to Christ for the first time, many express that they are called to overseas missions, and others commit to living for Christ at home. I was also so challenged in many areas of my own relationship with Christ -- just as I knew I would be. Praising God for all of this! He alone provides true and lasting hope!
One of the most amazing things about this camp is we have morning, evening and mid-day break-out sessions led by the most amazing speakers in the country. I first encountered KBM through a speaker named Adrian who was speaking at a Jr High youth camp where I was serving as a counselor when I was in college. He was SUCH a dynamic speaker, but he also sat down across the cafeteria table from me and spoke into my life personally. At Deep Camp this week, we've had Adrian and 10 other speakers of his caliber -- speakers who typically each speak for a full week at camps and conferences around the nation -- speaking to us at each session. 11 AMAZING speakers all in one place. I feel completely spoiled and it's been so fun to get to know them over cafeteria food as well.
Counting My Blessings: I head back to the oven that is Phoenix tonight -- I'm going to miss you sweet 70 and 80 degree weather! -- but the upside is, I get to reunite with my Dixie-dog! She is the best homecoming reception EVER.
