Frivolous: playful, lighthearted, trivial; the little things in life that should be savored.
I flew in Monday night after two weeks away from this cutie, and as I'm getting in the car at the airport, my mom says, "Now, don't freak out when you see your dog...." So I didn't. Outwardly, anyhow. My sweet mom has always groomed Dixie and the night before, as she was trimming the hair around her paw, she accidentally cut off the skin on one of the joints on top of her paw... down to what looked like the bone. Thankfully I didn't see the bone when I got into the car that night. My mom is a nurse and had bandaged it up a bit. But I did see it later that night and my heart welled up with pity for my sweet girl who just 3 weeks ago had 16 of her teeth removed. She really seemed fine though -- I don't think she was in pain. I'm not sure if this is why it took me a full 24 hours to decide to take her to the vet, but thankfully I did Wednesday morning. The vet told me that what I thought was the bone was in fact a tendon, and that it was a good thing that it was still intact. Then he put medication and this gigantic impenetrable bandage on her leg that she has to wear for a full week, and sent me home with antibiotics. Her second round of them this month. As you can see in the above photo, she is a bit perturbed with her giant pirate leg and is not at all appeased by the fact that the vet tried to make it "girly." But it looks way worse than it is and she'll be alright. It's pretty funny to watch her hobble around on it though. She can't decide whether to hold it up and make due with three legs or to gimp along on it trying to compensate for the fact that it's longer than the others. So she alternates between the two options. :(
Highlight of the week: On Sunday I got to go to church two times -- once in North Carolina and once in South Carolina. I love worshipping with believers in other parts of the world when I travel. It reminds me of how huge God is, and I love seeing how he is just as much involved in other hearts and communities as he is in mine.
Yes, I did this:
1 -- Ate sweet potato fries and sweet potato cake in the same meal.
2 -- Took a nap instead of working out after above mentioned meal. Might not have been the best choice, but it felt right at the time.
Celebrating: I didn't watch TV for the two weeks I was gone but my Tivo was hard at work in my absence, so I have some quality time on the sofa with Dixie in my future. Parks and Rec marathon, here I come!
Tomorrow I'm shooting this super-cute couple's wedding! Can't wait to share their photos with you Monday!
Feeling Blessed: I'm back home! Yay! I'm a homebody at heart, so two weeks was a LONG time for me. I loved everything about my trip, but it was great and almost surreal, to be home after so long. Yay for no more living out of a 50 pound suitcase!
