I'm so honored that I got the chance to capture Christian and Berta's love. It's the kind of love that oozes out of their being -- in a knowing look, a radiating smile and a level of comfort that puts others around them at ease.
Their wedding day was everything Berta hoped for -- her modern African wedding. And at the end of it, surrounded by 400 friends and family, Christian toasted his bride. It was so sweet. And I'm so glad he toasted in English because I can't understand Portuguese - haha!
"The way we have gone about our relationship is a bit twisted by the world's standards. We did not do things in the right order. Most people get married and then have children, but we had two children first....
There are lots of women out there who are beautiful and intelligent. But why is it that I don't love them but I love you? It's because of your grace. You know that I am a believer. Grace is unmerited favor. Although I don't deserve the love of a women as incredible as you, I am blessed with it. I am beyond blessed. And I love you for your grace."

Berta wanted to talk to Christian but not see him before the ceremony. So they said a prayer together and had a sweet moment parted by a door:
Berta was an absolutely stunning bride in her Vera Wang gown:
An African choir sang throughout the ceremony and danced in with an offering of goods from the couple on their heads:

At the end of the ceremony, Christian and Berta's youngest daughter, Maisha walked up to her parents at the altar. Such a sweet moment:

As the couple entered the reception they participated in a little show for their guests:
The outdoor reception site was gorgeous for their first dance:
And the night was one crazy dance party after that!
