In an effort to complete #19 on my 101 in 1001 list - take a dance class, I have signed up this semester to take a hip hop class at Scottsdale Community College. Now, hip hop wouldn't have been my first choice. I was thinking ballroom or some type of latin dance--I have some experience with both swing and country so love both of them. But Angie Sloan, my friend and fellow photographer who agreed to take a class with me, talked me into hip hop. Low and behold, I just found out today that she's quitting because of the minor dilemma of living in Prescott for the next month. But at least my friend Liene of Blue Orchid Designs is sticking in it with me. The above photo is our best effort at looking gangsta.

The class just started last week and is SERIOUSLY kicking my butt. So far I've learned that I'm not super-coordinated and that I may be much better suited for a geriatric hip hop class. If anyone finds one of those--let me know. Hip hop is hard! I've been focusing on putting my feet in the right places and I've pretty much got that down. But there's no looking cool in the process. And some of the moves I can only do at half speed. So I've got mucho work ahead of me. On a positive note--it's definitely a good workout.

At the end of the semester our class will be doing some type of performance so I'll make sure to videotape it for you. Stay tuned for that--I'm sure it will provide a good laugh :).
