I can't believe how much Pinterest has changed my life! I've already blogged on it a number of times before:

Fun with color palettes
Picking your wedding colors based on flowers that are in season

Plus, it's totally transformed my wardrobe! I have a "style file" board on Pinterest where I pin some of my favorite outfits/products/ideas that I come across online. The dangerous part is that the URLs that these products are pinned from often link back to a source where I can PURCHASE them. So unnecessary online shopping has inevitably ensued. I bought the heels, white dress, and yellow cardigan pictured above, among too many other things. So Pinterest hasn't been so good for my bank account, but I'm definitely cuter than I used to be.

If you're not already enjoying the addictive eye-candy that is Pinterest, I would definitely recommend checking it out! Like I've said in the past, it's perfect for brides who are looking for inspiration and a place to keep their ideas as they plan their weddings. And if you're a photographer, you definitely want to be on there. It's social media -- so it's good to be where the people are -- but also more than likely, YOUR images are being pinned without you knowing it.

This isn't a commonly known fact, but there is a way to see what images are being pinned from your site, or any other site you are interested in. The URL is "http://www.pinterest.com/source/(insert domain name here)". So, to see images being pinned from my site, I go to http://pinterest.com/source/melissajill.com. It's so fun to see what people find interesting or pin-worthy. You can also read what people write about your images, see what boards they are saved to, and how many times they've been repined. Pinterest truly is a photographer's best friend -- allowing our images to go viral and be shared beyond the circle of those who might regularly visit our sites. PLUS, the images are always linked back to our sites, so Pinterest can drive more traffic our way.

Word to the wise -- Pinterest is a public forum. Everyone can see what you pin. It's also designed for people to pin things they LIKE. I recently saw that two of my images were pinned to someone's "Hate" board. Their comments under each photo were directed more toward the clothing choices than the images themselves, but I still had some fun commenting on the images to let the pinner know that I saw them :). She was super-sweet and emailed me to apologize and took them down. But it's just not a good idea to have a "Hate" board on a public social media site. Let's keep it positive people!

Happy pinning and make sure to look me up! Oh -- and I'm not sure if you still need an invitation to join Pinterest, but if you end up needing one, leave me a comment, make sure to fill in your email address and I'll send one your way!
