The day has FINALLY come. I get to check a HUGE goal off my list today!

Michelle Neese is my oldest friend. We sang songs on the school bus and carried our cabbage patch kids around proudly in 4th grade. It was the only year we lived in the same state together. She moved away to Pennsylvania then I moved to Arizona. Then she moved back to Minnesota and finally to North Carolina. We've been friends for 25 years and have exchanged countless letters and flown to see each other many times throughout the years. It's the type of friendship where we just pick right back up where we left off. We've been through a lot of life together and I've cherished Michelle's friendship through it all. It's not often that one finds a friend so loyal and true.

Michelle visited me in college before she got married. She was married in 1998. I was in her wedding. She then proceeded to have 4 beautiful children. I think I've visited her in North Carolina at least a half-dozen times since she last visited me in college so many years ago. It was just easier for me to fly out there logistically. But I really wanted her to be able to visit my world again at some point.

So in 2007, when I developed my first 101 in 1001 goals list, this goal went on it: Get Michelle Neese to visit me. Then, in 2010, after failing to accomplish this goal in the time allotted, I transferred it to my current 101 in 1001 goals list because I still had faith that it could happen.

It only took putting it on two public goal lists, asking her endless times and starting a company then hiring her to work for me (more on that in the future) for it to be accomplished, but this week MICHELLE NEESE VISITED ME!!!

She left the kids at home with their dad, jumped on a couple planes, and spent a long weekend here. We packed it full to the brim with long talks about what God is teaching us, hanging my outdoor Christmas lights, a trip to the nursery for a poinsettia, baking cookies, eating cookies, going to some of my favorite local restaurants, snuggling Dixie, training for our yet-to-be-disclosed business endeavor, hanging with family and friends and watching our favorite shows by the fire. It was precious time with a precious friend.

I tried my best to scheme and pray up a way to keep her here, but ended up having to reluctantly put her on a plane this morning. :(

I'm so thankful for this time with my friend and for getting to check a long-time goal off my list!
