Berta & Christian were married one year ago today on 9.16.12 in Luanda, Angola in West Africa. This was the first wedding I ever photographed out of the country, and I was THRILLED to say the least. Click here to find out how I ended up photographing a wedding in Africa and click here to see their wedding blog post.
Today, in honor of these two, I asked them if they would be willing to share their favorite wedding photo and why it's so meaningful to them. Berta emailed me back with their FOUR favorite photos, and since English isn't her first language, AND since I love this wedding so much, I decided to just break my own rule and share them all. I asked Berta to share the meaning behind every photo for her and Christian and this is what she wrote about the above photo:
"This was a moment of great happiness captured in a picture: Me having fun, Chris always a gentleman greeting people, rice flying, bridesmaids and family happy, and our dear daughter Maisha being a part of this cherished moment."
For this next favorite image (below left), Berta shared this: "This photo of me and Christian praying before our religious ceremony reminds us of the favor of God in finding one another and the strong foundation in which we built our relationship."

For this next photo (below right), Berta shares: "This African ritual at the reception ceremony represented our culture and our desire to keep the african tradition alive."
And for this final favorite, Berta shares: "This photo of us and our girls shows our special bond based on the principle of compassion and love. That makes us strong and never fails."
Yay!! Thank you SO much for sharing Berta! I can't believe it's been a year already -- I loved being a part of your wedding so much! Happy anniversary!! And blessings to you and your sweet family!
