Ryan & Sarah were married six years ago today on 8.5.07 in Sedona, Arizona. You can see their full wedding blog post here.
This wedding was special to me because Sarah was a dear friend before she met Ryan and I remember commiserating with her over our shared singleness. I was SO thrilled when God brought Ryan into her life, and even more thrilled to be able to be the one to photograph their wedding day!
Today, in honor of these two, I asked them if they would be willing to share their favorite wedding photo and why it's so meaningful to them. They picked the above photo, which is one of my favorites as well, and Sarah shared this about it:
"We had prayed many years that God would reveal the perfect match for each of us. We didn't know how we would meet, or when it would be, and could only imagine what that person would be like. A relationship that started on eharmony and was led by the Lord to bring two people, living on opposite sides of the country, together. Because of prayer and miraculous circumstances, we have always been confident that we were meant to be together; that the person we married was the exact person God knew would be our perfect complement.
We chose Talequepaque in Sedona, AZ to have our wedding, as a means to escape the heat of the desert in August and to delight our out-of-town family with a unique destination. Ryan had dreamed of visiting Spain someday and Talequepaque was a pleasant 2nd best. ;-) I would have loved to have Melissa in my wedding party but I just couldn't trust anyone else to capture our day. Unfortunately for her (in some ways) she may never be a bridesmaid since she is such a skilled and talented photographer! If she wasn't my photographer we wouldn't have this awesome picture to remember an amazing moment in our lives. I love that it is a moment in time (not posed), and that it captures that moment after we had said our vows. We love that you can see many of our most precious family and friends standing in support of us (in the background), and the beautiful chapel with Jesus painted at the center. It was the perfect day and this picture sums up all the waiting, planning, preparation and euphoria that was our wedding day. Thank you Melissa for this picture and all the others too. I always tell Melissa, 'I only need one, just one good picture!' Instead she gives us hundreds... and then asks us to choose just one to be our favorite on her blog this year. The impossible, possible...!!"
Ryan and Sarah have fit a lot of life into their first 6 years of marriage. They have three kids -- and had them one right after the other! I need to take some updated family photos of them, but here are two photos from a shoot I did of their family 2 summers ago in Flagstaff before baby #3 (a girl!) came along:
