Brent and Michelle were married five years ago today on 7.24.08 in Half Moon Bay, California. You can see their full wedding blog post here.
I have such great memories from this wedding -- I can't believe it's been five years already!! Brent and Michelle had an intimate destination wedding with only their immediate families in attendance -- and me. What an honor!
Today, in honor of these two, I asked them if they would be willing to share their favorite wedding photo and why it's so meaningful to them. They picked the above portrait, which I love, and Michelle shared this about it:
"Approaching our 5 year anniversary, it was so fun to look back through all our wedding photos again and reminisce about stories and moments that we are so glad Melissa captured. We had a marathon of a wedding celebration. In July, it began with a beautiful "rehearsal" dinner cruise in San Francisco, followed by an amazing day in Half Moon Bay, full of primping and preparing, an incredibly meaningful ceremony, and a celebratory wine pairing Italian meal. It was important for us to have the intentional time to celebrate and reflect with just our families. (And Melissa Jill!) After honeymooning in Iceland (unique destination, but didn't realize there was 23 hours of daylight in the summer...if you know what I mean), we had two receptions: one in Iowa and one in Arizona. and Melissa thankfully was able to capture the AZ reception too!
There are so many incredible photos, and some phenomenal artistic ones that we have on display in our home, but we chose this more simple photo because it captures our personalities, and the pure JOY of the day. Brent always said he was never going to get married and I dreamed of being the desired bride. So to see Brent's heart and love shine through his gaze at me...and my smile of true love, joy, and enthusiasm that this handsome man is now my husband, truly captured the divine blessing of our new union.
We can't say we have looked at each other that same love-struck way every day of the past 5 years, but we are blessed to have daily renewed affection and grace for each other, as well as supportive families to remind us how important it is to reconnect as husband and wife even after the fairytale wedding has passed. Brent said in his vows a quote from Foo Fighters song Everlong, and it's engraved in my ring: "I'll never stop when you say when". Thank you Melissa for helping us begin a lifetime of fighting for each other's happiness and love. Thank you for being a part of our wedding, and giving us a tangible means to remember how much we love each other, how much fun we had celebrating, and especially how it all began!"
The honor was truly all mine Michelle! Love you guys! Happy Anniversary! Here's to many more!
