John Mark and Kimberley were married seven years ago today on 12.18.05 in Tempe, Arizona. Normally I would link to their wedding here, so you could see the original blog post of their wedding photos. But I've only been blogging for six and a half years, so JM & Kimberley were pre-blogging days. These two hired me when I was only 2 years into shooting weddings, so I cringe a little at my photography back then, but they insist that they love their photos, so that give me some solace.

I met Kimberley in college at Azusa Pacific University. We were only there together for one year, but thankfully have kept in touch since. I met JM through Kimberley when they hired me to shoot their wedding, and although I had my doubts that anyone could be amazing enough for her, JM turned out to be equally lovable and perfectly suited for Kimberley. These two live in southern California and I visited them a few years back during this time of year and loved every minute of it. I wish I could see them more.

Today, in honor of these two, I asked them if they would be willing to share their favorite wedding photo and why it's so meaningful to them. They picked the above photo, which I also adore, and Kimberley shared this about it:

"We have so many favorite photos...that's why we chose you! But this image captures so many things about that day and about us. The playfulness of our relationship -- casually taking our own self portrait in the middle of our professional wedding photo shoot. Our love for capturing moments as they happen. (Something you do so well, too!) Joy in just being together, as you can see in our faces and body language. All this has continued over the past seven years. That day, our wedding day, was one of the best of our lives. But I have to admit that marriage has been even better. God has continued to bless us with a home full of joy, playful kids and lots of pics to show for it. Ups and downs are a part of life, but having your best friend along for the ride makes all the difference. That and a commitment to God. I think it's the abundant life that He intended."

This is a more recent self-portrait of their now family of four. Little Kate was born three months ago with Down syndrome and numerous health issues that landed her in the NICU for 39 days. I kept up with their journey through Kimberley's amazingly well written and transparent notes on Facebook. I'm blown away by this couple's faith, their love for one another, and how God is using them as a family to shine brightly for him.
Love you guys! Celebrating you today!!
