I can imagine that planning a wedding must be a little overwhelming to choose between so many vendors for such an important day! I have had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented and personable vendors in the wedding industry, and I love to help my clients out whenever possible in creating a stellar vendor team. I frequently refer my clients to professionals I have worked with who I truly believe will do an amazing job for them by sharing my Favorite Vendors List. I also like to occasionally brag on each of them more in depth.
Today, meet Jesse Jo of Freed Hands! Jesse Jo creates beautiful stationery and custom calligraphy, and every piece is so unique! She makes every detail and envelope into a work of art!
Here is a little Q & A to help us get to know Jesse Jo a little better. Read her answers below each question:
1. How long have you in the wedding business?
I’ve been in business since April of 2015. I created the signage and paper goods for my own wedding, and landed my first wedding job a couple of weeks later!
2. What first got you interested in starting your business?
While designing our wedding invitations, day-of stationery, etc., I remembered how much I enjoy creating. I’ve always been artsy-fartsy, but something drew me to the idea of creating with a purpose; I get to make pieces that represent a couple’s relationship, style, and personalities. It’s the best.
3. What do you feel sets you apart from other stationers in the wedding industry?
I pride myself in being efficient, super-organized, and in making the process easy and enjoyable. Stationery is so personal, and I definitely understand its importance, but wedding planning can be so stressful— I love to make the process of deciding on wedding details fun and creative. I like to say that my couples are those who love hard and enjoy the journey!

4. What type of clients/weddings do you most find yourself working with?
My clients are usually looking for something totally custom, and a little bit off the beaten path. There are so many websites and shops that offer pre-made stationery templates, but my couples value the details and want every piece of their day to reflect on them and their relationship, personally.
5. What do you enjoy most about creating wedding stationery?
I love the challenge of interpreting a couple's vision into a design. It’s the toughest part of the process, but when you can get into a bride or groom’s head— that’s when the magic happens.
6. What would your biggest piece of advice to brides & grooms be?
Don't forget what this is all about! Stay "locked in" on each other through every part of the process. Be kind, and go on a lot of dates (with no wedding talk allowed). Also, set a Pinterest deadline for yourself. After a certain date, no more Pinterest! It’s a wonderful tool, but I think it stops some people from trusting their gut and knowing what they like. Close that window and trust your decisions!

7. What current trend in wedding stationery do you personally like most?
I love that I'm seeing more materials in invitation suites and stationery pieces! Acrylic menus, vellum envelopes, wooden invitations, etc.
8. Any fun-facts that we should really know that would contribute even more to your coolness?
I moved to Arizona from NYC, where I went to college. I like to think that my work is infused with a little bit of my big city sass. No rules here!
I can see the sass --haha! Thanks so much for sharing with us today, Jesse Jo!
