Frivolous: playful, lighthearted, trivial; the little things in life that should be savored.
Highlight of the week: I got to spend some quality time with our new interns -- Kian & Kendra -- taking their head shots and getting to know them. These two girls are amazing! I feel so blessed to have them on board with MJP this semester.
Yes, I did this:
1 -- Ordered Thai take-out online and went through the drive-thru to pick it up in my PJs.
2 -- Spent a few hours one evening with a boxer I found roaming our neighborhood without a collar. She ran errands with me to Trader Joe's and Costco before my neighbor returned home to find us in his front yard.
3 -- Walked smack dab into a recycling bin. I still maintain it jumped out at me.
Celebrating: My album design company, Align, has a full-time manager named Denise who has been on vacation all week in New Zealand. Happy for her, but definitely celebrating her return this coming Monday since I've been covering her email inbox and all of the admin and customer service tasks for Align all week. It's funny, I taught her how to do her job two years ago, and now she trains me to cover for her whenever she is out -- haha! The tables have turned. Covering her job this week has made me all the more thankful to have her talent and detail-oriented-wizardry on my team.
I had my first in-person client meeting of the year this week. One of my favorite things about my job is getting to meet new people and hear their stories. And this couple was no exception! They told me how they met when her preschool friend and his college buddy got engaged. We sipped on sparkling cider and ate macarons as they told me about their dreams for their wedding. So yep, not a bad day in the office!
Feeling Blessed: I finished a memoir of a female front-line war photographer who works for The New York Times and National Geographic, among others (It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love and War by Lynsey Addario). It was a great read. But it definitely left me thankful that my front-line is happy and fast-paced weddings with the occasional bridezilla or rain forecast. Wedding photography doesn't seem so stressful anymore :).
