Frivolous: playful, lighthearted, trivial; the little things in life that should be savored.
Highlight of the week: My dear friends Gina & Marcus had a sweet baby girl a couple weeks ago, and this week I got to smoosh her little cheeks and eat Thai take-out next to a roaring fire in their living room. It was such a blessing to meet her and see them become parents for the first time!
Yes, I did this:
1 -- Baked 12 dozen snickerdoodles. 8 dozen for others. 4 dozen for me.
2 -- Walked around my house, marking the floor with post-it notes wherever I found evidence of termites eating the wood floor.
3 -- Showed up to a party billed to include "ice-skating", only to find out it was a rink of plastic made to look like ice. Oh Arizona, how you fail at winter.
Celebrating: Christmas! How is it possible that it is only ONE WEEK away!? I petition that we add another 2 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's the best time of the year and every year it goes too fast. TOO FAST. This week I finally finished decorating my tree. For some reason this year I couldn't get it done all in one sitting, so it stood half-finished with plastic bins of ornaments strewn across my living room floor for two weeks. I feel a huge sense of accomplishment now that everything is finally merry and bright. And that tree is staying up through January.
One of the highlights of the holidays for me is cookie parties. Lots of them. This week I attended two on one day while donning a reindeer cardigan that sits in the back of my closet all year until the perfect holiday event. Anyone else have one such sweater??
Feeling Blessed: My grandpa -- my only remaining grandparent -- who lost his wife of 63 years this fall, is coming out from Florida to spend Christmas with my family this week. I can't wait to snuggle and love on him. Such a sweet man.
I hope you have a blessed time with the ones you love this holiday season!!
