Early in 2016, Alexa was traveling when she found a ring pop in her suitcase. She was pretty sure she hadn't bought any ring pops, but there it was. It wasn't the last ring pop to appear. Over the next four months, Alexa discovered more and more inexplicable ring pops. They showed up in her car, yoga bag ... eventually even at work. Ring. Pops. Everywhere.
On May 5, 2016 -- about four months into this ring-pop-palooza, Alexa and Aaron were visiting Arizona. Aaron had planned a surprise road trip, and Alexa had no idea where they were going. She guessed they might be on the way to the Grand Canyon, but when they reached a sign reading "Grand Canyon turn left," Aaron turned right. Their secret destination turned out to be the magical and unique Antelope Canyon. They joined a tour with a small group of people from all over the world.
While the group was admiring the dramatic sandstone formations, Aaron found a secluded spot and got down on one knee. He opened up his backpack ... and it was filled to the brim with ring pops. Kneeling in one of the most beautiful places on earth with a bag full of candy, Aaron held up a real ring (set with completely non-edible diamonds) and asked Alexa to marry him. She said yes, and a few minutes later, they were celebrating their engagement with their tour group, new friends from Hong Kong and Germany. They gave out ring pops to everyone in the canyon.
Isn't that the sweetest proposal story?! (No pun intended!) That same sense of fun and joy infused everything on Aaron & Alexa's wedding day. I'm so grateful I was there to document it! Here are a few of my favorite photos from this beautiful wedding:
