Oh, how I love traveling! I love the feeling of stepping off of a plane in some distant location. Everything is new and interesting and the possibilities seem endless. If only I could bring my dog with me more often, I would be jetting off to distant locations on the regular. This is one of the reasons that I get so excited when I'm approached to photograph a destination wedding. In my years as a photographer I've been blessed to shoot weddings all over the country and in Africa. I also regularly photograph weddings right here in my own neighborhood -- Phoenix, Scottsdale and Sedona, Arizona -- that are destination weddings for the bride and groom. I even had a destination wedding myself, in the mountains of Colorado! All of this experience with destination weddings has taught me two things:
1. Destination weddings can be so special! They are incredible opportunities for couples to combine their wedding and their honeymoon travel. They provide freedom for couples to express themselves by bringing local flair to their wedding traditions. And they can also allow for small, intimate guest lists.
2. Destination weddings are not for everyone! This is a big decision that affects everything from the budget to the date. Before you embark on the adventure of planning a destination wedding, it's important to be sure it will be a good fit for you!
You only get to plan your wedding once, so how do you know if a destination wedding is the best direction to take? In order to help couples decide if a destination wedding is the right fit for them, I've worked with the experts at Destination I Do Magazine -- the leading resource for brides and grooms planning a destination wedding -- to create an easy online quiz.
