Just so you're forewarned this post is completely and totally unrelated to photography. As if the title doesn't give that away. Just don't want you to be disappointed.

I'm watching "The Bachelorette." I know, it's a completely indulgent waste of time. And despite it's purpose, poor Jillian only has a .00000001% chance of finding the man she should marry and spend the rest of her life with. BUT I watch on. It's entertaining. And makes for good water-cooler talk with the girls.
Last night Jamie Delaine and I watched as Jillian and Michael went out on a one-on-one date together. And now I officially have a crush on him:
Ok, so I have a crush on a number of guys. If Michael, Danny Gokey, Ryan Reynolds or John Krasinski asked me out I'd say yes.

Michael is my personal favorite of the bachelors that Jillian has to pick from. He's not only cute but he's hilarious and so fun and affectionate to boot. All very good qualities. He's also very into Jillian which is cute but also sad for him since I don't think she'll realize how great he is and keep him around. We'll see though.

After watching the show last night I posted about my crushes on myTwitter/Facebook status and a couple of my Facebook friends offered to nominate me for the next Bachelorette. That got me thinking about all the reasons producers would never pick me to be on the show.

#1 -- I would want to send home 90% of the guys right away. Call me picky I guess. I am. It probably comes with age and dating quite a bit. But I know what I'm looking for and wouldn't want to keep guys around if I didn't see any real potential.

#2 -- I wouldn't kiss anyone until I had the field narrowed down to 1. I literally yell at the TV every time Jillian kisses one of the guys. I just think it's SO gross that she does that with so many of them simultaneously and SO SOON. It's like, "Wow, we've had a really great 5 minute conversation. You're cool. Let's make-out." Yuck.

#3 -- There would be no overnight dates. I know this goes against everything our culture says today but there will be no sleeping together before marriage for me. It's what I believe and I'm stickin' to it. Who's to say what they do on "The Bachelorette" on those overnight dates. Maybe they just take the opportunity to talk without the cameras rolling but I'd still say "no thanks."

#4 -- At the end of the show there wouldn't be an engagement. I would consider the whole thing a success if I found a guy that would want to give dating a chance in the real world and see what could happen. I just could never say yes to a proposal minutes after breaking up with someone else. No I couldn't.

So as you can see, Melissa Jill's version of The Bachelorette would never fly. It would be the most boring season yet. Who would watch it?

No, I don't think The Bachelorette is in my future. But I still watch and yell at the TV and am disappointed every time the couple doesn't make it last in real life.

I'm hoping I'll find love anyway. Someday. And just in case any of you runs into Michael, Danny, Ryan or John in the near future, would you mind giving them my number?
