Meet the Robinsons. The members of this crazy family are friends of mine who are a part of my church. I say "crazy" because they're at the early-teenage-years stage and so that means that Steve and Wendy are slowly joining the ranks of sainthood. No, really Aaron, Nate and Katie are all really great kids. But they definitely keep life interesting! :)

For her birthday, Wendy asked Steve for one thing -- black & white photos of each of her kids to hang on the wall. So Steve got me in on the mission and wa-laa! The above photos are a result of a lot of hemming and hawing on the kids' part BUT I think the mission was accomplished.

On a side note--for all the photographers who are reading this, these were all shot outdoors with natural lighting. I think it's amazing how you can get a studio-lighting feel without all the cumbersome, expensive equipment. I just found a shady overhang with some good directional lighting, had the kids squat down and used my 50mm 1.4. Good stuff.

Once we got the shots Wendy was really wanting, we had a little fun with a few more portraits of the family. I love how these shots captured some of Aaron, Katie and Nate's personalities:
Steve and Wendy jumped in a few:
You guys are great! Thanks for the educational lunch at Serrano's post-shoot! :)
