'Tis the season for a plethora of family portraits and I am LOVING it! Especially when I get to photograph families like this sweet one. Aaron and Holly have three gorgeous children -- Kate is 7, Will is 6 and Olivia is 9:
Kate has been battling brain cancer for a couple years. It's been a tremendously tough road -- something I can't imagine facing -- and this family seems to love with every ounce of their being and cherish every moment. Holly LOVES family portraits and gets them taken every chance she gets. A few months back, I participated in a silent auction to help raise money for Kate's expenses. I donated a family session and Holly's sister, Stephanie, ended up bidding on it as a gift for Holly. She knew just what her sister would want most.

And I love that I got the chance to photograph them.

It wasn't tough to get these siblings to love on each other:
Such a snuggly family:
I love that the kids brought along some of their favorite things for the shoot: a blanket with sentimental value, a favorite Nancy Drew book for Olivia, a baby-doll for Kate and a book of Bible stories for Will.
We found this random shovel at the site and had a little fun inspired by the painting American Gothic:
I love the fun colors and mixed patterns the family dressed in:
SO much sweetness:
A spontaneous smooch:
This family has had more scary days than most. But I love what Holly shared recently on her blog: "God gently reminded me... not to let the fear of tomorrow squelch the sweet gift of life today." I'm thankful that this family is allowing God to use them, in the midst of the circumstances they face, to be a reminder to all of us who witness their journey, of this and so much more.
