Like I mentioned in my first post about the Columbus MJ 2 Day that took place earlier this week, we had an amazing group and an amazing location in which the workshop was held. Both days were packed full of info and learning-goodness. After sharing about how I look for good light for my photos and how I interact with clients, I was able to take the attendees out and demonstrate these concepts during a mock engagement shoot.
We started the shoot in downtown Pickerington which was so quaint and fun to shoot in. Pickerington is a portrait of small-town America. I loved all the patriotic spirit they displayed!

Kathryn and Robbie who have been married for less than one year were our amazing models. I met them for the first time when they showed up for the shoot and they were SO GREAT! It can be intimidating to be cute and affectionate in front of a crowd of people donning cameras, but these two weren't even phased.
I absolutely loved Kathryn's polkadot dress and black heels!

Sara took a few shots of the attendees and me in action during the shoot so I'll share a few of those interspersed throughout this post.
Demonstrating back lighting:
How cute are these two??
This was us shooting the photo above right. I always stick out my stomach in a truly attractive fashion when I'm shooting. SO happy I can share that with you :).
We drove up the road a few minutes to this abandoned barn that we got permission to shoot at. Such a fun midwestern location!
I took time out from shooting at different points throughout the session to explain to the group what I was doing:
Love these!
What a great workshop!!
Day two was spent digging into business-related topics that are in many ways MORE vital to running a successful photo business these days than is mastering photography. We talked about the state of the market, workflow, album design & sales, blogging & social media, website & branding, pricing, vendor relations & networking, initial client meetings and getting published. I was able to spend 15 minutes one-on-one with each attendee to answer all their questions and clarify with them what their next steps are. It is SO exciting to be a part of other photographers' journeys and I can't wait to see where they go from here!
The attendees also received some fun surprises at the workshop and absolutely loved them! We couldn't have done that without our sponsors! A very special thanks to: Pictage, Jared Platt Workshops, Queensberry and Two Bright Lights. Thank you so much for your support!
