Florence


Yesterday we took a 1 1/2 hour train ride from Rome to Florence for the day. Such a great city--cute little Italian cafe's, street artists, cobblestone streets and kind people. It was an exhausting day and today I woke up with a sore throat unfortunately, but I definitely think it was worth taking a day to see another part of Italy. Here are some shots from the day:




This is Il Duomo--the 4th largest church in Italy. I honestly can't imagine how huge the others must be because this one blew my mind.


The inside:


The Piazza della Signoria--Florence's most famous square. We sat in a cafe with this view for lunch:




The Ponte Vecchio--Florence's only surviving bridge from medieval days. It is lined with shops selling jewelry.





I really enjoyed the culture of this beautiful city. Definitely one of the highlights of the trip. Tomorrow is my last full day in Italy and I think we're heading to the coast. Stay tuned!
