Today my dad celebrates his 54th birthday. That's 5 more than we were counting on.

I've always been a daddy's girl. My dad is an amazing rock of strength--always understanding; always the peacemaker. I thought I'd put together a little tribute to him by breaking out some old photos. Get ready for a good laugh! :)

Me and dad showing off--I guess they were a lot less careful with babies in the 70s:

The mustache phase--love the old TV and brown carpet.
The early 80s. My dad would do my hair like this all the time--it was his specialty.
Camping with my uncle and sis. I'm the one with the flattering bowl-cut.
I think I was in 4th grade here. Can you believe how cool I was!?
High school in the early 90s. Remember when long permed hair and big bows were in? Yes--I'm the shorter one and my sister, who is 2 years younger, is the one who looks 4 years older than me :).
The long permed hair only got worse as high school progressed to graduation:
Fast-forward 7 years, past college, to a normal day in June of 2002-- my dad had a brain aneurysm. He would have died instantly if he wasn't already in the emergency room. He was in a comma for 9 agonizing days, in the neuro ICU for 6 weeks during which he could have died at any moment, and in hospitals for a total of 3 months that summer.
It's been a long road of recovery, but I still have my dad. Today is his 5th bonus birthday:
I feel so blessed.
