Woo-hoo! VERY excited to check this one off the list.
I have been a member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association for 4 years now. They hold quarterly photography contests that I faithfully enter every quarter. I won a 2nd place award in 2004 for this photo submitted in the "Portrait of a Bride" category:
But since then NOTHING. Until now. The top photo from Greg & Shannon's wedding placed 9th in the "Ceremony" category of a recent contest! Normally I wouldn't be that excited about a 9th place but these contests are tough. And there are so many A-MAZ-ING photographers who submit incredible images each quarter. Seriously so inspiring. Click here to see the other award-winning images to see what I'm talking about. I feel very honored to be in the company of these talented photographers from around the world.
Brandon and Amy were married Friday at St. Mary's Basilica with their reception at The Royal Palms. These two were tons of fun. And their connection was palpable. I really enjoyed being a part of their day.
Here's Amy's gorgeous gown:
Getting the finishing touches on her make-up:
Check out what Amy had engraved on the inside of Brandon's ring--hehe:
Seeing each other for the first time:
There's a story behind why Brandon and Amy decided to get married on a Friday. They are hard-core ASU Sun Devils fans. They never miss a home game. And the Saturday of their wedding weekend was no exception. They got married on Friday, went to the game on Saturday and left for their honeymoon on Sunday. The Sun Devils got word of the fact that Brandon and Amy were planning their wedding around them and they sent out a camera crew to shoot some footage for a "Sun Devils Story" on them that aired on the big screen at the game Saturday. Here's a shot I got of them working the camera and showing their Sun Devils spirit!
And some shots from the ceremony:
The Sun Devils had a surprise waiting for Brandon and Amy at the reception--Sparky showed up!! They were absolutely floored.
A shot from the first dance:
And finally dancing the night away:
It was so great being a part of your wedding Brandon & Amy!!

One week from today my team and I will be walking for Autism in Tempe. This will be my second year participating in this event to try to raise awareness and money to help find a cure and prevent this awful epidemic that affects my nephews and as many as 1 in 150 of our children. If you've been planning to join our team or give to this cause--now is the time! Don't put it off any longer. I'm SO thankful to those of you who have given so generously. So far I've raised $770 towards my personal goal of $1000. Please consider clicking here and giving 5 or 10 dollars. That's it. One time gift. No further obligation. I can't wait to kill this ugly monster called "Autism." I will be sending out an email to those of you who are walking with us next Sunday to coordinate meeting up. Should be fun!
